Privacy policy

Last updated 20 October 2026. This policy explains what happens to your personal data when you read Sister Bookies or email us.

1. Data controller

We run Sister Bookies at sisterbookies.co.uk and decide how and why the personal data in this policy is used, so we are the data controller. Write to info@sisterbookies.co.uk about anything in this policy.

2. Our principles

We collect as little as the site needs to run and to answer people who write to us, and we keep it for as short a time as we can.

Sister Bookies is for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, and if we learn that we have, we delete it.

3. What data we collect and on what basis

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you give it and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to correct the site where you point out a mistake. Our basis is legitimate interests: answering the people who contact us.

When your browser loads a page, the server writes one log line per request: IP address, date and time, page requested, response status and size, referring page and browser user agent. We use the logs to keep the site running and secure, not for analytics or advertising. Our basis for this is a legitimate interest in running a secure site.

The site has no analytics, sets no cookies of its own and uses no browser storage. Our cookie policy has the detail.

A hosting company runs the server that holds the logs. The pages make no requests to outside servers, and fonts are served from the site's own server, not from Google Fonts.

We hand personal data to the authorities only where the law requires it.

Pages here can link to bookmakers' own websites. Once you follow such a link, that bookmaker's own privacy policy applies, not this one, so read it before you give your details.

5. Transfers outside the UK

The site is hosted by Hostinger on a server in Germany, so the server logs are held outside the UK.

6. Retention and data security

Server logs are rotated daily and kept for about 14 days, then deleted. They stay on the server and are shared with no one.

We keep an email only as long as we need it to answer you and deal with anything that follows, then we delete it.

7. Your rights

UK data protection law gives you rights over your personal data: to be told how it is used, to see it, to have mistakes corrected, to have it erased, to limit how it is used, to object to its use and, where it applies, to take a copy of it with you.

To use any of these rights, email info@sisterbookies.co.uk and say what you want. Server log lines are deleted on a short cycle, so a request about them can cover only the days still held.

8. Right to complain

If you are unhappy with how we use your personal data, you can complain to the Information Commission's Office (ICO), the UK's privacy regulator. Its advice is: “In most cases, we recommend that you raise your concern with the organisation first and give them a chance to put things right.” It adds: “If you’re unhappy with the organisation’s response, you can then complain to the ICO.”

Call the ICO on 0303 123 1113 to start a complaint.

9. Changes to this policy

We post changes to this policy on this page, and the Last updated date at the top changes with them. Check it when you return to the site.

How you may use the site is covered in the terms of use.
