What bookmaker sister sites are

Two bookmakers are sisters when the same company or the same parent group stands behind them. Ladbrokes and Coral are the clearest case: both are run by LC International Limited and both hold the same Gambling Commission licence, so we call them the same company and licence. Paddy Power and Betfair are a different kind. Each has its own licence, but both belong to the Flutter Entertainment group, so we call them the same parent group, separate licence.

The two kinds behave differently in practice. A same-licence pair such as Ladbrokes and Coral sits under one licence account, so licence-wide rules apply to both. A group pair such as Paddy Power and Betfair holds two licence accounts, so each brand keeps its own rules.

A licence on its own never makes two bookmakers sisters; the company or parent group that runs them does. Brands that only share a platform, an address or a director are named as linked, never as sisters.

For you as a player the label matters in three places: self-exclusion can reach across a group, an account at one brand can block a new account at its sister, and each brand offers its welcome free bet on its own conditions.

A site like a bookmaker is not its sister. A sister shares the owner; a site like it offers comparable free bets or racing terms but is run by a different company. Betfred is a site like Ladbrokes, not its sister.

How we decide two bookmakers are sisters

Each bookmaker names the company that operates it. We take that company and match it against the Gambling Commission public register, which shows who holds the licence account and which other websites sit under it. Where a parent group is named by the bookmaker or by the parent's own brand list, we record it too.

We repeat the check for every bookmaker with a page here, so no claim about a group rests on a single brand's description of itself.

Each bookmaker's page shows the company and licence account behind its sisters, so you can follow the reasoning yourself. Where a bookmaker has no sister, its page says so plainly and sets out what the register shows.

Two bookmakers become sisters only when that evidence points to one company or one parent group. A parent group counts only when a source names it, never because of a shared supplier or the look of a site. The full steps are on the page about how we find bookmaker sister sites.

The bookmaker groups we cover

Each row is a company that holds the licence account of a bookmaker we review, with the bookmakers we review on it and the other websites the Gambling Commission register shows as active under the same account.

Ladbrokes and Coral share one account, and 7bet shares its account with Betnero and PlayWins.

Paddy Power, Betfred and Midnite each hold an account of their own.

Fitzdares, DragonBet and London Bet complete the list, each on a single licence account.

The parent groups named are Entain Group for LC International Limited, Flutter Entertainment for the two PPB companies and Betfred Group for Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited.

Bookmaker groups and their sister sites

Each group below names its bookmakers, the operator behind them, their ratings and one point that sets each one apart. The welcome free bet is summarised where it helps the comparison, and each bookmaker's own page holds the detail.

Ladbrokes and Coral

LC International Limited runs both Ladbrokes and Coral, and each offers £30 in free bets for a £5 bet, with 0x wagering. Ladbrokes is rated 4.5, and what sets it apart from Coral is a betting features score of 5 against Coral's 4.

Coral is rated 4.4. What sets it apart from its sister is mobile: its app is on the App Store, while the Ladbrokes app is on Google Play.

The Gambling Commission register shows 13 active websites under their shared account, so the group is wider than the two bookmakers reviewed here.

Paddy Power and Betfair

PPB GE Ltd operates Paddy Power and PPB Counterparty Services Limited operates Betfair. Paddy Power is rated 3.9 and pays £40 in free bets for a £5 bet, the lower stake of the two.

Betfair is rated 3.4. It asks for a £10 bet and returns £50 in free bets, so its reward is the larger one.

Betfred

Betfred, rated 4.1, is operated by Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited. A £10 first bet earns £50 in free bets, and its sportsbook covers 21 sports with in-play betting.

Midnite

Midnite Limited operates Midnite, rated 4.0. A £10 bet brings £30 in free bets, and its sportsbook lists 27 sports.

Fitzdares

Fitzdares Limited operates Fitzdares, rated 4.1. What sets it apart is a team of brokers on the phone from 8am to midnight. Its minimum deposit is £10.00.

DragonBet

Dragonbet Ltd operates DragonBet, rated 3.2. What sets it apart is apps on both the App Store and Google Play.

London Bet

Thistle Bet Limited operates London Bet, rated 3.1. What sets it apart is live chat stated as open 24/7. Its each-way terms pay 1/4 of the odds for the first 2 places in races of 5, 6 or 7 runners.

7bet, Betnero and PlayWins

Anakatech Interactive Limited operates 7bet, Betnero and PlayWins on one licence. 7bet is rated 3.6 and its welcome offer is up to £21 in free bets for a £20 bet. What sets it apart is a betting features score of 4, against 2 for Betnero and 1 for PlayWins.

Betnero is rated 2.6 and gives a £10 free bet for a £10 bet. What sets it apart is its markets, which are football, tennis, horse racing and cricket.

PlayWins is rated 2.4 and gives a £10 free bet after your first deposit. What sets it apart is live chat from 8am to 11pm Monday to Friday and from 10am to 10pm at weekends.

The licence account that 7bet, Betnero and PlayWins share has 10 active websites on the register.

What follows you between sister sites

A sister site is never a way around a self-exclusion. Gamstop is the scheme that blocks every online site licensed in Great Britain at once, across companies and licences, so it is the one to use if you want every bookmaker closed to you.

Inside a group the rules differ. Ladbrokes and Coral ask that you have not excluded yourself directly, through another Entain brand or through a multi-operator service such as Gamstop. Paddy Power and Betfair each ask that you are not currently subject to a self-exclusion from a Betfair, Paddy Power or Sky Betting and Gaming account.

At Betnero you choose when you exclude: that site alone, or every brand Anakatech Interactive Limited operates. 7bet asks that you are not self-excluded from any brand that company operates.

Account rules matter too. Ladbrokes and Coral do not let you open a new account at one if you already have an account at the other, because no new accounts are permitted across brands operating under the same licence. Both charge £3.00 a month on an inactive account, while 7bet deducts 5% of the balance or £5, whichever is greater. Paddy Power and Betfair charge no dormant account fee.

Verification details can travel inside a group too: documents you send for one Entain brand's checks may be shared with the group's other companies where you hold accounts with its other UK brands.

Outside the groups the one-account rule still applies. Midnite lets you register one account, used across all its services, and DragonBet, London Bet and Fitzdares each allow only one account per customer.

Comparing free bet offers inside a group

Wagering is where welcome offers differ most, so this section sets wagering on winnings against wagering on the bonus. Ladbrokes and Coral attach 0x wagering to their sports free bets, though each free bet must be used whole in one go, and the stake is not returned with winnings.

Midnite£10 at 1/1 (2.0)£307 days
7bet£20 at 1/1 (2.0)Up to £21 (3 x £7)5 days
Betnero£10£107 days

Betfair's casino welcome spins carry 0x wagering on winnings after a first deposit of £10.

7bet and Betnero show the sharpest split. 7bet's 100 bonus spins carry 1x wagering on spin winnings from a first deposit of £20. Betnero's casino welcome offer, 100% up to £50 plus 50 bonus spins, carries 10x wagering on the bonus and 10x on the spin winnings, from a first deposit of £10.

Betfred splits its offer into £30 in sports free bets and £20 in bet builder free bets, while 7bet splits its up to £21 into three £7 bonus bets: one for any sport, one for horse racing only and one for football accumulators.

Time limits differ as well. Ladbrokes, Coral and Midnite give you 14 days to place the qualifying bet, Betfair gives 30 days from account opening, and 7bet allows 7 days. Paddy Power, Betfair, Midnite and 7bet also keep the free bet stake out of your returns.

The table sets the sports welcome free bets side by side: the qualifying bet, the free bets and how long they last.

When a bookmaker has no sister sites

Five bookmakers on this site have no sister: Betfred, Midnite, Fitzdares, DragonBet and London Bet. Each is run by its own company, and none shares a company or parent group with another bookmaker we review.

Instead of sisters, each of these pages lists alternatives, chosen from the other bookmakers we review by a rule the page states in full. The pages always call them alternatives or sites like that bookmaker, never sisters, because the owner is what makes a sister and an alternative has a different one.

On the DragonBet page, for example, Ladbrokes, Coral and Betfred are compared as alternatives on free bets, limits and safety for UK players, and the London Bet page sets out the same three with ratings and offer terms.

The Betfred page, for instance, sets out who runs it and what the Gambling Commission register shows before it turns to three UK bookmakers to try instead.

Use them to compare free bets or racing terms with the bookmaker you started from. Treat each comparison as a way to see what else is on offer, not as a link between owners.

How we rate the bookmakers

Every bookmaker is scored from one to five on eight criteria, and the scores are weighted: racing value 20, welcome free bet 15, betting features 15, account and safety 15, limits 10, markets 10, support 10 and mobile 5. Payment speed is shown but not scored. Our team tests and checks every bookmaker before it is rated.

Each bookmaker's own page shows its scores area by area. The same weights apply to every bookmaker, so ratings can be compared across groups, and the method page gives the rest of the scoring. A higher rating means the bookmaker's terms scored better on the areas that weigh most, such as racing value, and a lower one means they scored worse.

How to complain about a bookmaker

Start with the bookmaker's own complaints process. If it does not settle the matter, after 8 weeks you can take the complaint to an alternative dispute resolution provider, a free and independent service the bookmaker names.

IBAS, the Independent Betting Adjudication Service, is the named service at Ladbrokes, Coral, Paddy Power, Betfair, Betfred, Midnite, Fitzdares, DragonBet and London Bet. 7bet names ADR Group.

The first step at Ladbrokes and Coral is a review by Customer Services. At Paddy Power and Betfair it is Live Chat, and at 7bet it is live chat or email to its support team. Midnite acknowledges a complaint within 24 hours, and so does DragonBet. At London Bet you start with customer service and can then ask for the senior supervisor.

Betfred runs its process in stages and promises a response within 8 weeks of your first complaint. Fitzdares treats an unresolved complaint about the outcome of a bet as a dispute, which you can refer to IBAS free of charge.

Gambling help for UK players

If gambling is hurting you or someone close to you, speak to a helpline today. In England and Scotland the National Gambling Helpline answers on 0808 8020 133; in Wales the NHS Wales Helpline answers on 0808 2819 265. Further support is listed by GambleAware, though these services serve only people living in Great Britain.

Gambling online is for adults: in most cases the legal minimum age in Great Britain is 18. You can register for self-exclusion with Gamstop. A sister site is never a way around a self-exclusion.

Ladbrokes, Coral, Betfair, DragonBet and 7bet all let you set deposit limits and take time-outs from your account. Ladbrokes and Coral also offer a curfew, a maximum stake limit and reality checks.

Questions about bookmaker sister sites

What is a bookmaker sister site?

It is a bookmaker that shares its owner with another bookmaker. What bookmaker sister sites are above sets out the two kinds, with Ladbrokes and Coral as the first example.

How does Sister Bookies know two bookmakers share an owner?

We compare the operator each bookmaker names with public records. See How we decide two bookmakers are sisters above for the steps.

Is a sister site the same as a similar bookmaker?

No. Ladbrokes and Betfred both offer free bets and racing markets, but different companies run them, so they are not sisters. See When a bookmaker has no sister sites above for how such alternatives are handled.

If I self-exclude at one bookmaker, am I excluded from its sister sites?

Not automatically. The wording differs from group to group, and some operators let you choose the scope when you exclude. The section What follows you between sister sites above sets out each group's clauses, so check the brand you use before relying on a single request.

Can I claim a new customer free bet at each sister site?

Often not between brands on one licence, as the account rules in What follows you between sister sites explain. Brands on separate licences, such as Paddy Power and Betfair, each run their own offer with their own qualifying bet, so read both sets of terms before you sign up. Comparing free bet offers inside a group sets them side by side.

Do sister bookmakers pay out at the same speed?

Not by default, because each bookmaker sets its own range. Ladbrokes and Coral give the same range, from instantly to five banking days depending on the method, while Paddy Power asks you to allow 5 working days for withdrawals to appear. Midnite aims to process withdrawals within 72 hours, and DragonBet says money typically arrives within a couple of hours, though a bank can add days.

Do sister bookmakers offer Best Odds Guaranteed?

Some do, on terms each bookmaker sets itself. Ladbrokes, Coral and Paddy Power ask you to opt in once, and the offer starts from 8am on the day of the race. Midnite offers it by invitation only, and DragonBet applies it to all UK and Irish horse racing. Compare the conditions on each bookmaker's page before you bet on racing.

What if a bookmaker has no sister sites?

Its page switches to alternatives, picked by a rule the page states. Comparing offers and terms there still gives you a like-for-like view without a shared owner. Each such page names its alternatives as alternatives, so no company link is claimed.

How does Sister Bookies rate the bookmakers?

Each bookmaker is scored out of five on eight weighted criteria, and its rating comes from those scores. The weights, and what is shown but not scored, are set out in How we rate the bookmakers above. The rating appears on each bookmaker's card and on its own page.

Where can UK players get help with gambling?

Call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 if you live in England or Scotland, or the NHS Wales Helpline on 0808 2819 265 if you live in Wales. Gamstop handles self-exclusion across licensed sites, and GambleAware lists further support. All of these are aimed at people living in Great Britain, and you must be 18 or over to gamble online.
